Users juggled separate logins for Salesforce and Office 365. We wired up SAML single sign-on through Azure Active Directory to make it one credential.

One credential for Salesforce and Office 365 via SAML SSO

01Problem

The end customer ran Office 365 for email, credentials, and device management alongside Salesforce Sales Cloud for sales. Maintaining separate logins for each system created workflow friction, security risk from password fatigue, and daily inconvenience.

02Solution

We implemented single sign-on by federating Salesforce with Azure Active Directory. That meant registering the Salesforce application in Azure AD and creating authentication certificates for encrypted security-token transfer, provisioning SSO users in Azure AD with the right permissions, and mirroring the certificate creation and user registration inside Salesforce to complete the trust relationship between both platforms.

03Impact
  • Users gained single-credential access to both Salesforce and Office 365
  • Eliminated password fatigue and cut security risk from multiple credential sets
  • Simplified multi-system workflows with seamless authentication
  • Encrypted security-token transfer delivered enterprise-grade SSO security
